Own’s Room

Sleeps 2 King Bed Sitting Area Grand Bath

ROOM DESCRIPTION

This room is the perfect getaway for your wedding preparation, honeymoon, anniversary, or romantic weekend. With its name coming from our 1920s floor plans, the Own Room is our largest and grandest guest room. It has served as the owner’s retreat for generations and is the essence of elegance and comfort. This corner room on the west side of the house is filled with afternoon sunshine through its floor to ceiling windows and offers a beautiful view of the front lawn down to the village. The Own Room features a spacious king-sized bed, antique oak and walnut furniture, and a comfortable Eastlake-style settee that completes the room's furnishings. Painted in an intoxicating mix of black and raspberry, this deep, velvety color sparks feelings of warmth and contentment, and takes its name from the red wines of France's Bordeaux region. The spacious en suite bathroom is a harmonious blend of period finishes and a modern day spa, rolled into one for you to pamper yourself during your visit! Antique light fixtures accent the black and white tile that leads you to the walk-in shower. A long forgotten antique sideboard has been granted new life as an over-sized vanity with plenty of space for all your travel items. As a special touch, this bathroom also includes a separate dressing area with antique vanity surrounded by original mid-1800s wallpaper that was uncovered during our renovation and preserved. The Own Room has that historic feel with modern details, which exemplifies the Penn Yan way to stay as one of the nicest rooms in the area.
